Rotten Tomato

I just literally bumped into a man in uniform (yea, a policeman) and was almost thrown into a building wall with the impact. He just continued on without even blinking, a euphoric look in his face and a lazy to his gait. Obviously, the man has just had his pot.

It is ironic that these men who are supposed to be law enforcers, men who have sworn to protect us, are also the ones we need protection from. I must admit though, there is still a percentage of their populace that are honorable and trustworthy, the incident just made me realize that power indeed makes one vulnerable to corruption and immoralities, not immune to it. I don’t have to point out what would be the outcome of a community where law enforcers become law breakers themselves.

As far as I know, a regular drug screening is being conducted for these law enforcers — all public officials for that matter undergo these testing. Or is that just a pretense at equality and to give the public a false sense of security? I just hope that that is not the case: that the drugged policeman i just bumped into is an isolated incident, just an unfortunate encounter with a rotten tomato that will be thrown out soon into the garbage. If not.. is there still hope for this country?
